What is the UICD?

The U.I.C.D. (Italian Union of Casting Directors) is a non-profit trade association that brings together more than 60 Casting Directors and Casting Assistants from the film, theatre, television, advertising and new media sectors.
The association aims to promote the development, qualification and upholding of the principles underpinning the profession.

What is a Casting Director

“Casting” is the task of searching for and selecting the most suitable performers for the roles in a script, after having been commissioned by a film, television or advertising production.
The Casting Director is the professional figure in charge of presiding over this search and selection process.

Aims of the UICD

The aims of the Association are to encourage and support the presence of Casting Directors in the entertainment industry, to establish a certain standard of professionalism in the sector, to promote the establishment of awards for the category, to provide members with resources and professional support, and to draw up standard contractual models to be shared among its Members.
