ARTICLE 3 – MEMBERSHIP FEES

Annual membership fee:

  • CASTING DIRECTOR MEMBER €100
  • CASTING ASSISTANT MEMBER €50

Only those who are up-to-date with their membership fees are considered members.
Payment must be made by 15 January each year preferably by bank transfer to C/C n. 0000001552 IBAN IT54G083270324700001552
Exceptionally, payments may be made in cash directly to the treasurer.
A member who has not paid after 30 days from the due date will be called back by the Management Committee by means of an email reminder and will have 15 days to settle the payment. If, after these 15 days, the member has not regularised this position, he/she will be considered to be in default. After this date, the Management Committee will discuss the member’s position and assess the reasons for the delay in payment, deciding whether or not to remove the member from the association.
The member may withdraw from the association at any time by notifying the Management Committee in writing without receiving a refund of the membership fee.

ARTICLE 4 – RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS

  • Casting Director Members and/or Casting Assistant Members are required to use the initials “U.I.C.D.” respectively after their name in the opening and closing credits.
  • No U.I.C.D. member shall carry out activities as actors’ agents or hold shares in agencies representing film actors.
  • If a U.I.C.D. member manages and/or owns a public database and/or an online actor search engine, he/she may not ask actors who have not yet been registered to register in the database for a fee in order to take part in a casting session he/she has organised.
  • A Casting Director may participate in a paid workshop under the following conditions: 1) the workshop must take place only within acting schools and courses of recognised prestige; 2) their lessons cannot be paid for directly by an actor; 3) the Casting Director may not use, during the workshop, excerpts of roles from any projects he/she is casting. The workshop organisers must provide the Casting Director with the following information: 1) the name(s) of those organising the workshop; 2) the amount each actor has to pay to take part in the workshop; 3) a list of participants in the workshop.
The organisers must also ensure that all publicity relating to the workshop clearly states that its purpose is exclusively educational and that it should not be regarded as a job interview or audition. It is also forbidden to mention in the advertising for the workshop any titles or any other information related to projects that the Casting Director has been working on during the same period. Lastly, it is forbidden to use the initials and/or the logo of the Association on the promotional materials of the workshop.
  • If a Member intends to carry out an acting training activity “in private” which is parallel to and unconnected with casting work, he/she must submit a request to the Management Committee, which reserves the right to assess whether the activity may be carried out independently.
  • Any initiative on behalf of the UICD must be authorised by the Management Committee or, if necessary, by the Chairperson.
  • It is the duty of every UICD member to report cases of ethical and/or professional disputes to the association. The Management Committee shall examine the member’s complaint and consider what action to take.
  • In the event that a production should fail to pay within the agreed terms, the member must notify the MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE and no member, after due investigation, shall agree to work for that production until the latter has fulfilled its obligations.
  • If a member does not respond to the convocation of the General Meeting of Members and/or does not respond to the notifications of the Committee within a period of 12 months, the Committee reserves the right to evaluate the position of the member and their possible expulsion. Every member of the UICD undertakes to respect the rules provided for in these Regulations and in the By-Laws of the Association.

ARTICLE 5

The General Meeting of Members must be convened in Rome, even if it is outside the registered office. The convocation is made by e-mail and each Member is required to respond regarding his/her presence. If the Member should be unable to attend, he/she shall use the proxy formula, ensuring that the proxy is available to represent him/her. At the General Meeting of Members or the Management Committee, the Member may be represented by another Member. No Member may present more than two proxies.
For certain resolutions decided from time to time by the General Meeting, voting by e-mail is possible.

ARTICLE 6

The Casting Director, in agreement and in collaboration with the actors’ agencies, undertakes to ensure that the actors’ professionalism and minimum fees are respected (approximately €350 for a small number of exposures). UICD members (Casting Directors and Casting Assistants) therefore undertake not to accept requests for actors by productions offered at lower figures, which, in that case, shall be the sole responsibility of the lead production company because they are considered extras. Low-budget independent films, shorts and webseries are excluded from this.
